Here Comes the Sun! Great tune. The Beatles had many great tunes. But this posting isn’t about music, it’s about sunrises! I feel compelled to write about the sunrise I watched this morning. It almost escaped me as the peak happened quickly. Apparently vivid colors stimulate the happy center of my brain (this is the non-medical description). I love the harmony of colors in a sunrise and today’s was absolutely glorious. Fortunately, I live in a location where the sunrise is very viewable.
The sun is going to come up again tomorrow
Once upon a time I reported to a fellow that would commonly say after a challenging day, “Well, Jon, the sun is going to come up again tomorrow.” And he was right! Seeing the sun rise has a cleansing effect on me. It seems to wash away all my concerns. A new day, a new start. Here comes the sun!
Here comes the sun – breaking the darkness in two
I took a couple photos of the sunrise this morning. The featured photo is my favorite. The sun is breaking the darkness in two. Land and sky begin to lighten as the sun rises. In my world the only thing that can match the beauty of a sunrise is a sunset. The closing of a day. Another time for cleansing. Deep breaths. Meditation and reflection. Wash away, wash away. Rest easy as twilight yields to darkness. But know in your heart as you lay your head to rest you will rejoice whence comes the sun.
I’m including another shot of the sunrise. I experimented with focus and brought the focus upon the foreground and a small amount of bramble. The photo may be a little distracting to me. The colors are captivating but I think the photo is lacking something. It possibly needs balance and a central point of focus. What are your thoughts? Email me here.
I am including it only to illustrate the challenges of photography – AND the absolute wonder of digital photography! When I started in photography, film was the only game in town. I grew up on film. I worked in a darkroom. Old school. Digital photography has set the hobby of photography back on its heals. It is an entirely new world and I am loving it!
Get creative with digital photography
Today, digital photography allows instantaneous review of a captured image. The camera I have, a Nikon D850 shoots seven frames per second! Amazing! Get creative! Experiment! Its all about learning and trying new things. No waste of film and processing fees. Just shoot, and shoot and shoot. Now the downside to all this shooting is one can develop bad habits. Not taking the time to compose a shot – just sort of spray and pray. That’s not good. Photography needs to be deliberate and focused. It requires vision and the ability to interpret on the go because many shots only come along once.
Closing
I have a bunch of sunrise and sunset photos in this Gallery at RedBarnProject.com. If those things are your thing, you need to check it out. I hope you enjoyed the post and the images today. Now get up before the sunrises tomorrow morning and ready yourself with camera in hand to capture that perfect sunrise! Until next time, Peace.
