That’s right. Today, Super Bowl Sunday, February 13, 2022, is delivering ten hours and thirteen minutes of wonderful daylight! We were at eight hours and fifty-two minutes on January 13, 2022. This equates to one hour and twenty-one minutes of glorious daylight gained in the last month. I gotta say, it makes me giddy to think about! What are you doing with YOUR extra one hour and twenty-one minutes?
We continue to head in the right direction
What this means is we continue to head in the right direction. A very good thing. (I’m not going to talk weather here as I pledged I wouldn’t do so until we hit 40 degrees Fahrenheit ABOVE zero. I consider talking about daylight to be an inbounds topic.) Looking ahead, we will see this trend continue into the golden days of summer. I just did a fast forward to June 21 where we will have fifteen hours and fifty-two minutes of sunlight’s brilliant beams. That is SEVEN more hours of sunlight than we had on January 13, 2022! Glorious daylight.
It is truly amazing that daylight swings as much as it does. Well, yes and no. I mean, there are reasons for it. (Orbit of Earth around the Sun, the tilt of the Earth’s axis are two primary variables.) I’m fascinated by it but then, I’m fascinated by ants and other insects. Easily amused? Perhaps. But what especially interests me is the designs we find in nature – be it the arrangement of petals on a flower, budding leaves on a tree, pine cones or even the segments on a worm or an ant’s antenna. There are common design elements. So much yet to learn . . .
Back to this sunlight phenomenon. I get so much encouragement from the increased daylight, it’s ridiculous! I think most people benefit from exposure to sunlight. We get Vitamin D for one thing. But a sunny day just feels happier to me. And who doesn’t like feeling happy?
The smell of fresh cut hay
I’m sitting here right now as I type this and am thinking about evening breezes and the smell of fresh cut hay. Heavenly. If that doesn’t stir memories for me.
Closing
I tossed in a couple more random photos in this blog post. The photos are for sale at my website, RedBarnProject.com. You need to make a visit if you haven’t been there already. Lots of scenic shots, waterfowl, flowers, insects and nature in general. I think you’ll like what you see! Also, continue enjoying the ever increasing daylight. It is going to lengthen like gangbusters in short order and we will see some real change! Oh, and enjoy the Super Bowl if that’s your thing. Go Bengals! Until next time, Peace.
