I’ve probably eaten too many cookies today but I got this kick for some Ogden Nash. I remember reading his books of poetry in my youth. It always made me smile. I think I’ll share a few of his works in this space today. By the way, Ogden Nash was an incredible humorist for the ages. He lived from 1902 to 1971. I dedicate this post to Ogden Nash.
Fleas
Adam
Had’em
The Abominable Snowman
I’ve never seen an abominable snowman,
I’m hoping not to see one,
I’m also hoping, if I do,
That it will be a wee one.
The Ant
The ant has made herself illustrious
By constant industry industrious.
So what? Would you be calm and placid
If you were full of formic acid?
The Camel
The camel has a single hump;
The dromedary, two;
Or else the other way around.
I’m never sure. Are you?
The Canary
The song of canaries
Never varies,
And when they’re moulting,
They’re pretty revolting
The Cow
The cow is of bovine ilk;
One end is moo, the other is milk.
The Dog
The truth I do not stretch or shove
When I state that the dog is full of love.
I’ve also found, by actual test,
A wet dog is the lovingest.
The Eel
I don’t mind eels
Except as meals.
And the way they feels.
A nice sampling by Ogden Nash. You may never have heard of him before or he may be a very familiar name. In any event, his work makes me smile. And that is a good thing. I hope it made you smile as well.
And now for something completely random
To mix things up a bit, I’ll close with a couple of very colorful photos. It’s Friday! Let’s have a little fun!
I hope you don’t mind, I’m in the mood for some bright and bold images. Check out the next one. It is a collection of folk art spear fishing decoys. Not your typical decoys!
I hope you enjoyed the post! Something a little lighter for a Friday. If you have any questions about my photo art and prints, you can reach me here. I’m primarily a landscape and nature photographer of the West Central Minnesota terrain. Check out my website, RedBarnProject.com and prepare to spend a little time there. Lots to see! Peace.
