I woke up this morning at my usual time – 4:45 AM and started in on my usual routine. A couple-three cups of coffee, and meditate on the day – and I just breathe. Then it’s off to the lower level where my desktop PC is, as I prepare to write a blog post for the day. Generally, I can be finished with that by 10:00 AM – allowing for some pretty typical interruptions, like taking Bender out for a walk, or changing the memory card in my trail camera, more coffee, a boiled egg. You get the picture.
Take care of business and just breathe
I wouldn’t say my days necessarily go as planned as my plan for any given day tends to be unwritten. I take care of what I know I need to tend to and deal with the surprises as they arises.
I’ll just say today was full of surprises! All manageable but all time consuming. Prioritize and conquer. That’s the way I like to handle my days. And of course, to just breathe. That is so important. Leave the rat race to the rats. Step back, breathe and regain the moment.
The smiling tree frog
The featured photo is one I enjoy. It makes me smile. (I’m German so I have to be careful in showing my emotions but some days it makes me laugh out loud! Shh. Not a word!) The photo, of some exotic tree frog, is either smiling or perhaps, just breathing. I like to think it is breathing and reminding me to breathe.
The serious frog could try to just breathe
Here is another photo of a frog, a local frog – Green Leopard. He is a German frog by outward appearance. Not much emotion there, may not even be breathing, but I love the photo as well. This frog tells me to stay calm under pressure. It looks very calm to me. Did you ever hear the story of the frog, pan of water and stove? Never mind. It does not end well for the frog.
Back to breathing
Back to breathing. Breathing is very important for obvious reasons but we can learn to adjust our breathing in a way that brings calm in tense moments. Basically, a deep inhale counting to four through the nose, hold counting to five and exhale out the mouth counting to seven. Repeat several times. Careful though, you might want to do this in a seated position as you could get a little light-headed until you adjust. Just my two cents. I’m not a Doctor and my advice is free of charge. Just suggesting what works for me.
Closing
I need to keep it short today as I still haven’t quite caught up with myself! If you like the picture of the Leopard Frog let me know here. I’ll put it on my website, RedBarnProject.com so that you have the opportunity to purchase. As far as frogs go, he is pretty cool! Stay safe, stay calm and enjoy the Peace.
